QuickVarthe Android Application Privacy
Applies to: QuickVarthe Android application available on Google Play Store.
This section supplements the Privacy Policy above and explains specifically how the QuickVarthe Android application ("the App") collects, uses, and discloses information. The App is a WebView-based news reader that loads content from quickvarthe.com inside a native Android wrapper. Where the App differs from the website in how data is handled, this section governs.
13.1 About the Application
QuickVarthe for Android is primarily a WebView-based news application that displays content from QuickVarthe.com within the app. The App does not require account creation, login, or registration to read news content. Core navigation, push notifications (if enabled), and ad display are supported through Google services described below.
13.2 Information Collected Through the App
The App and the Google services embedded within it may collect the following categories of information:
13.2.1 Device and Diagnostic Information
- Device model, manufacturer, and operating system version
- App version, language settings, and screen resolution
- Network type (Wi-Fi/mobile data) used to load content
- Crash logs and performance diagnostics (e.g. ANRs, stack traces)
- General, non-precise location inferred from IP address (for regional news/ad relevance)
13.2.2 Advertising Identifier (AAID)
If the App displays advertisements, it may access the Android Advertising ID (AAID) — a resettable, user-controllable identifier provided by Google Play services — for the purpose of serving and measuring ads. The AAID is used only for advertising and related analytics purposes and is not combined with directly identifying information such as your name or email address. You can reset or limit ad tracking for this identifier at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads.
13.2.3 App Set ID
The App may use the Android App Set ID for analytics and fraud-prevention purposes (for example, understanding usage across our own apps on the same device). The App Set ID is not linked to the advertising identifier or to any personal or sensitive data, and is not used for advertising purposes.
13.2.4 Usage and Analytics Data
We may use Google services such as Firebase Analytics and/or Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate app usage — such as screens viewed, session length, and feature engagement — in order to improve the App's stability and content experience.
📋 Note: The App does not request access to contacts, SMS, call logs, microphone, camera, or precise (GPS) location. It does not collect financial, health, or authentication data, as these are not necessary for the App's core news-reading functionality.
13.3 Google AdMob Advertisements
The App may display advertisements served through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partner ad networks may collect and use device and advertising identifiers, approximate location, and ad interaction data to serve and measure relevant ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad.
You can manage ad personalisation for your Google Account at adssettings.google.com, and review how Google handles data from apps using its services at Google's Partner Sites policy. Ads shown in the App are clearly labeled as "Ad" or "Sponsored," and we do not control the specific content of individual ads served by AdMob.
13.4 Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use Google services (such as Firebase Crashlytics and/or Firebase Analytics) to automatically collect crash reports and basic usage statistics. This data helps us identify bugs, fix stability issues, and prioritise improvements. This information is processed in aggregate or pseudonymous form and is not used to directly identify you as an individual.
13.5 Permissions Used by the App
The App requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality and ad display:
- INTERNET: Required to load news content and advertisements.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check connectivity and optimise content loading.
- AD_ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): Required for the Advertising ID to function on apps targeting Android 13 and above, used solely for ad delivery and measurement as described in Section 13.2.2.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (if enabled): Used only if you opt in to receive breaking news notifications.
The App does not request permissions for contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, call logs, or precise location. Any permission not listed above is not used by the App.
13.6 No Registration Required
The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide personal information to read news content. All core reading features are available without registration.
13.7 No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information collected through the App. Information described in this section is shared only with the Google services (AdMob, Firebase/Google Analytics) integrated into the App, strictly for the app functionality, advertising, and analytics purposes described above, in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
13.8 Children and Families
The App is a general-audience news application and is not directed at, nor designed for, children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the App. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information via the App, please contact us at contact@quickvarthe.com so we can take appropriate action.
13.9 Your Choices and Rights
- Reset/Delete Advertising ID: Via your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Opt out of personalised ads: Via Google Ads Settings.
- Disable notifications: Via the App's settings or your device's notification settings.
- Uninstall the App: Removes locally stored app data from your device at any time.
- Access, correction, or deletion requests: Contact us at contact@quickvarthe.com; we will respond within 30 days.
13.10 Data Security
We rely on industry-standard security practices provided by Google Play services, Firebase, and HTTPS/TLS encryption for data transmitted between the App and our servers. While we take reasonable measures to protect information processed through the App, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13.11 Changes to This Section
We may update this Android Application Privacy section as our App, its features, or applicable Google Play policies evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
